Another Exciting Friday at HAMS

On Friday, September 9 the middle school enjoyed their most recent Fun Day. The Houses competed in an indoor scavenger hunt, themed after recent information from their core classes and rotations. A question from one of their classes would be read across the microphone, then a student from each House would sprint to the center of the gym to write the answer on a dry erase board. The first, correct answer earned a point for their House. Mr. Gary McCormack provided multiple Algebra problems to solve for X. Mr. Corey Cunningham had review questions about geography. Mrs. Jenna King had students separate a egg, a skill learned in the baking rotation. Finally, Mrs. Tracy Hendrix brought the science lab to us, with students measuring into beakers and heating liquids over alcohol lamps. At the end of a heated round of competition, there was a tie between two Houses. The tie was broken by a cheer-off of the "Dynamite" cheer, the official cheer of Harding Middle School. The win went to Stax House, with Church House coming in second.
In addition to the Fun Day competition, Friday also marked the conclusion to a food drive led by Campus Ministry. Students brought in canned foods to benefit the Hope House. Middle school Houses could also win points by bringing in the most foods. Stax House won this as well, by a large margin. In addition to winning House points, the Houses helped provide food for needy people through a great cause. All in all, it was another fun and exciting Friday Fun Day at Harding middle school. For our next Fun Day, we will be joined by Harding 5th and 6th graders, getting a taste of what awaits them at Cherry Road --- they won't be disappointed!
