The Eclipse

I hope everyone has been enjoying a smooth transition back into school. It's been a busy week.

We started the week off by enjoying the eclipse. Although clouds (and eventually rain) prevented us from getting a very good view of it, we still enjoyed the time together outside (and thinking about the event that was happening just over the cloud cover.

Then we enjoyed getting to talk with some more middle school parents at Meet the Teacher Night. If you weren't able to make it, still feel free to email some of your student's teachers and set up a time to come by. We'd love to get the chance to talk to you.

In sports, middle school sports finally got started last week. Our middle school football team played their first game against St. George's as our cheerleaders encouraged them, and our cross country team ran a time trial at Shelby Farms in preparation for their first meet. This week, we'll see football, cheer, girls' soccer, volleyball, and cross country all in action. We hope to see you at some of these events.

Finally, this week we officially begin our rotation classes (during homeroom). These classes meet 5 times over the course of the semester, and are purely for fun and exploration. All hands-on work and no grades. As part of these classes, your student will also get to participate in a test-taking skills class. We hope to announce class rosters this week. Be aware that we are usually unable to give everyone their first choice, but it is always our goal to make sure they get one of their top 4 (out of 14) choices. We will do a second round of class in the 2nd semester, so they'll have more opportunities to get assigned to their number 1 choice.

I hope your students are enjoying their time in middle school. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can help you with.
