We've had a really busy week in middle school. We started the past week with the Bridging Ceremony, where we welcomed next year's 6th and 7th graders from Harding's Lower School campuses to Cherry Road. We are so very excited about all the new students we will be welcoming to our middle school next year. We had a very busy day Friday. We celebrated the ending of 4th quarter with a Fun Day. We played capture the flag and had a large Knowledge Challenge Bowl. But the highlight of the day was a visit from Harding alumnus Marlon Brown (2009). Marlon now plays in the NFL with the Denver Broncos. He led middle school (with Lower School 5th and 6th grade visitors) in several games. He raced students, played Knock Out, and helped the teachers in taking on the students in War Ball. There was also a dance contest. The students also got to hear a great message from LeBonheur about staying active and eating right. After a full day of fun, students received their school yearbooks, and middle school's own won awards. Mrs. Jenna King won the Sisson Award for Outstanding Employee Contributions, Mrs. Tracy Hendrix won the SGA Servant Heart Award, and Ms. Sheronda Holmes was recognized by the yearbook with the Shield Salute. Finally, we announced our winner of the year-long House Cup. Wells House won the Cup this year, and celebrated with a pizza lunch. The cup will reside in Mr. Cunningham's room (the House Sponsor) until it is awarded again next may. Congratulations to all the Houses on a great year! Reminder: 8th grade exams begin Monday, and they depart for Washington DC Tuesday evening. We are almost to the finish line! |
